The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Central Office, in collaboration with NAPOLCOM Region 8, partnered with EVSU Ormoc to conduct a survey and research on personal safety, fear of crime, and violence in the Municipality of Kananga and the City of Ormoc.

On February 26, 2026, NAPOLCOM held a briefing at the EVSU Ormoc Campus Director’s Office, attended by NAPOLCOM representatives Liezel A. Ardeño, John Orlie S. Bergonia, Atty. Hermie F. Alcera, and Karen Getalado.

The survey began on February 27, 2024, in Brgy. Tagaytay, Kananga, and Poblacion Kananga, with teams consisting of NAPOLCOM officials, EVSU Ormoc Campus Director Dr. Jeffry V. Ocay, and university staff.

The second phase of the survey, conducted on February 28, 2024, extended to Brgy. Linao and Cogon in Ormoc City, focusing on residents’ experiences with crime and violence. In the afternoon, NAPOLCOM conducted exit briefing.

The project aims to provide valuable insights into safety concerns and crime dynamics in these localities, aiming to inform evidence-based policy decisions and community interventions to enhance public safety and security in Eastern Visayas.
