𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗚𝗘: 𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗔 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗚𝗔𝗣

In an effort to prepare the next generation of educators with the essential skills and knowledge, the 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 participated in a seminar/workshop with the theme, “𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐞: 𝐀 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐩” 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The said event happened earlier, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑, 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟗:𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐌 𝐭𝐨 𝟑:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐕𝐒𝐔-𝐎𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐂 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐃- 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐄𝐒.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐄. 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐨, a Latin honor graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Biological Science at EVSU-Ormoc and also a part-time instructor here at EVSU-OC tackled the topic of 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐂 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 with the objectives of, Review Policy Guidelines on Daily Lesson Preparation for the K to 12 Basic Education Program, Understand the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) and, Apply MELC-BASED COT Lesson Plan. He discussed that MELC stands for Most Essential Learning Competencies which were developed in response to the changing educational landscape brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized the importance of this which is to 𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨. To wrap it up, MELC-based lesson plans serve as a fundamental tool in the field of education, ensuring that students receive a well-structured, comprehensive, and standardized learning experience. They are essential for promoting educational quality, consistency, and the development of competencies that are crucial for students’ academic success and personal growth.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐨, who graduated from St. Peter’s College of Ormoc with a Bachelor of Secondary Education-General Science and also a private teacher at LIDE Learning Center, Inc., taking up a Master’s Degree at Palompon Institute of Technology, tackled the topic about 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 with the target goals, identify learning preference, apply strategies to learning, and become an effective and efficient teacher. He gave the students some activities and sort of games in which they happily participated. Through that, the learners have 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚𝙨. He emphasized that, “𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆.

𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡, the students have acquired knowledge on how the MELC-based lesson planning ensures that educators focus on the most essential competencies, creating a strong foundation for student learning. Accommodating diverse learning styles is equally crucial, as it allows educators to personalize their teaching methods and engage all students effectively. By integrating these two approaches, 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚, 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨-𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚.
