In the heart of athleticism and thirst for knowledge within the human body, the Society of Physical Education Major convened at the EVSU-OC covered court to kick off their annual celebration of SOPEM Days 2024, themed “Pagka-usa hin Kasaysayan: Bringing All Elements Together As One.” The two-day event commenced with the raising of banners by the four participating houses of the Bachelor of Physical Education program: Burahag, Bulaw, Pug-aw, and Lunhaw.
The event was formally started with the warm welcome remarks of SOPEM’s adviser, Mr. Franz Martin S. Callano, LPT, MAED, who aimed to make this occasion both memorable and successful. He also encouraged BPEd students to participate in various competitions. Following this, Mary Deceree Hope O. Villanueva, the president of SOPEM, shared her special message where she encouraged the participants to enjoy and show sportsmanship.
Moreover, the program then proceeded to the ballgames featuring basketball and volleyball in the morning. Keeping up the fierce competition, the slogan poster making, essay writing, and quiz bowl also took place.
In the afternoon, two ballgamesβbasketball and volleyballβcontinued their match. After the ballgames, it then proceeded to the showdown of different houses, which flaunted their color-coded costumes in the cheerdance competition, highlighted with their flags and props. Performances are delivered exquisitely with precision, showing the flexibility among the BPEd students.
The first day of SOPEM ended with so much agility and energy from participants, with a competitive vibe from different houses. The fun is not yet over; day 2 of SOPEM days is still going on with various competitions. Stay tuned!
