In the heart of numbers and the art of analysis, the Math Wizards’ Club of EVSU-OC gathered to honor the invaluable role of statistics in shaping and understanding the world of today. October 06, 2023, marked the 34th year of the annual statistics month with the theme: “Accelerating is Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines.”

The program formally started with the warm welcome of Dr. Beatrice D. Mabitad, the Education Department Head. She stated that “Mathematics is not merely a subject or a number. It is a language that unifies the hidden patterns of the world.” She also encouraged everyone to actively participate, collaborate, and embrace the challenges and opportunities one will encounter as mathematics students.

The activity then proceeded to a vibrant unity dance, symbolizing diverse backgrounds and skill sets coming together to form a harmonious performance. Then a lively yell competition ensued, pitting different teams against each other. The vibrant yells of Factions Alpha, Infinity, Obelus, and Gamma with special participation of the Senior Mathematics Students echoed creating noise that showcased team spirit, aligning with the central theme of unity. Faction Infinity reigned as the winner of the yell competition.

Along with the activity, the candidates of the much anticipated Mr. and Ms. MWC were formally introduced. Additionally, the organization recognized and certified Math students who participated during the Intramurals 2023 and the PSA Quiz Bee.

Later in the afternoon, the activity continued with the MWC GOT TALENT. MWC President, Hannah Mae Bahinting welcomed the attendees with her remarks. She emphasized the importance of uniting as one and enjoying the activity responsibly. Eight contestants showed off their diverse talents, Ruel Dani-ot of Faction Gamma, with his contemporary performance, claimed the Grand Champion title.

Concluding the celebration of the National Statistics Month kick-off, Jerico Ombal, the MWC Vice-President, mentioned in his speech that this activity should strengthen the wizardly connection among MWC members, “This is only the opening of the statistics months, we will be together for this whole month, atin ito kaya nararapat na mag-enjoy tayoo!”
