In a crucial clash of creativity and flexibility, Eastern Visayas State University represented by the Alugyaw Dance Company of Ormoc Campus acquired a strong podium finish as 2nd Placer for Contemporary Dance Category during the Dance Contests of PASUC-8 Regional Culture and Arts Festival 2023, held at the RDE Hall of Visayas State University (VSU) on October 19, 2023.

The team’s performance featured an emotional love- themed portrayal of the five elements that captured the focus of the spectators. In an interview, Mark C. Pening, a BPED student from EVSU-OC and the crew’s captain shared how this success is very much valued by them considering the tough preparation, time, and hard work they poured into it. “The journey wasn’t easy because of all the effort and challenges, amo gyud gi push through, to take the chance to become better and represent the whole EVSUin regional level. If you want things to happen then make an action, and we did”, Pening expressed.

The elite team from EVSU was coached by the Artistic Director of EVSU-OC, Roxy C. Bandejo, MSHRM, who originally crafted the exquisite winning choreography of the team. When asked about what set them apart from other contenders, Mr. Bandejo emphasized the clarity of their story line and the dedication and the commitment of the team.

“We did it! We may acquired silver in this event but definitely it feels like gold. Just learn from this then use that lesson for next time. We’ll work harder next time but for now, we’ll cherish this moment and embrace the experience and memories we can, and share it to our new members soon”, Mr. Bandejo stated.
