To establish a quality of technical education and skills development, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) conducted a symposium at Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus Covered Court, November 18, 2024, as part of the Founding Anniversary celebration of EVSU-OC.

The event started with an opening remark by Dr. Allan Mabitad, Officer-in-Charge. Followed by the Head of the Business and Management Department, Prof. Lyra C. Rodriguez, delivered her special message and welcomed the keynote speaker, Mrs. Vivian E. Abueva, Provincial Director and Regional Assistant Director of TESDA.

Along with this, the event was accompanied by a dance performance from the BSHM 1C. After the presentation, Mrs. Vivian E. Abueva then started the symposium with a brief history of TESDA, the challenges it faced during the previous years up until the present, and its primary goal in establishing the agency. She also introduced the different programs offered by the TESDA and emphasized the importance of skills training in our country to produce skillful and competent individuals that can mobilize the industry.

Subsequently, concerns and questions from the students and faculty staff were raised during the open forum session of the symposium and quick trivia questions also happened to test the deeper understanding of the students about TESDA.

Finally, the event ended with closing remarks from Dr. Clery Shellanie D. Nicholas, Adviser of the Association of Hospitality Management Students (AHMS) organization, who delivered her heartfelt appreciation to the keynote speaker and gratitude to the AMHS students for organizing the event.
