With the theme, “Paghatag Kalipay ug Paghinumdum sa mga Katigulangan,” the Peer Facilitators Circle (PFC) of Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) successfully held its second Gift-Giving and Outreach Program for the elderly at the Ormoc Holy Family Foundation Inc. in Brgy. Milagro, Ormoc City, on December 23, 2024.
This heartwarming event brought together PFC officers, members, and faculty to share joy and kindness during the Christmas season.
The program began with selected PFC members serenading the elderly with captivating songs, each performed with heartfelt emotion. As the music filled the air, PFC members joined the elderly in dancing, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. The unity song “Kasadya Ning Taknaa,” prepared by the PFC, added another touching moment to the event.
The highlight of the day was the gift-giving, where members distributed presents to the elderly. While handing out the gifts, the PFC members expressed their respect and affection through gestures of “pagmamano” and warm hugs, leaving smiles on the faces of the elderly.
The event then shifted to a shared meal, where everyone enjoyed the delicious food prepared by the PFC. Laughter and conversations filled the room, further strengthening the bond between the members and the elderly.
After the festivities, Mr. Eric M. Pulido, PFC President, shared his heartfelt gratitude to the members who dedicated their time and effort to make the event successful. Furthermore, he emphasized how this initiative is deeply personal to him, as he lives with his elderly parents, and expressed his hope that the program would continue for years to come. This was followed by closing remarks from Ms. Pyrene Jan Parilla of the Guidance Office, who commended the PFC for their efforts and expressed her appreciation for witnessing such a heartwarming event.
This initiative not only showcased the generosity of EVSUnistas but also highlighted the true essence of Christmas—spreading love, joy, and compassion. Indeed, it’s the most beautiful time of the year.
