The Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus celebrated its first-ever face-to-face University Students Welcome Activity and Gathering (USWAG), an orientation program for freshmen and transferees on August 23, 2022, held at EVSU-OC Covered Court with the theme, “One EVSU: Forward Together.”
Dr Gerry B. De Cadiz, Campus Director of EVSU-OC, get ahead with the program with his welcome remarks. The director gave an inspiriting speech emphasizing the five key things to remember as a freshmen student in EVSU. First is that being a part of EVSU is a privilege. Second is being a responsible student and to give justice to our rights of education. Third is to always set a target or goal. Fourth is to survive, and lastly is to learn.
To welcome the students with necessary information they need for this new Academic Year, especially the freshmen, the different Administrative, Finance, and Students Offices as well as the Academic Departments of EVSU- OC prepared their presentations to introduce the main functions and goals of their offices, and their respective faculties and members. In between the presentations, Alugyaw Dance Company and EVSU- OC Rondalla brighten the atmosphere with their amazing talents.
Honorable Carissa Neuel Finn Pono Fernandez, Student regent and EVSU-OC Supreme Student Government (SSG)President was not around during the event to deliver her special message but Hon. Glenda I. Leonor, the Vice Chairman on Communication and Archives, read her words to the EVSUnistas. She said that being just a student without engaging in any organizations or school activities will not suffice your college journey. She encourage students and said, ” Allow yourself to grow outside of your comfort zone. Get to know more people and participate in activities, too. I know all these things will surely mold a part of you to become better.”
Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza, Jr. delivered his closing remarks, ending the USWAG event that lifted the students spirits and made them to anticipate even more to move with EVSU- OC.
