EVSU-Ormoc Kicks Off 2026 Campus Assessment and Operational Planning; Sets Sights on Strategic Excellence

ORMOC CITY, Leyte – Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) commenced its annual Campus Assessment & Operational Planning today, January 29, 2026, gathering key officials and faculty at the EVSU-OC Function Hall to review past performance and chart the university’s strategic direction.

Anchored on the university’s vision to become a premier institution in the ASEAN region by 2040, the two-day activity aims to strengthen the campus’s operational efficiency. The first day focused on “Strategic Performance Review & Issue Identification,” providing a platform for a comprehensive diagnostic analysis of the previous year’s targets.

The program began with preliminaries and an inspirational message from University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz. Campus Director Dr. Maricel A. Gomez officially opened the session with her Welcome Remarks, emphasizing the importance of unity and excellence in achieving the campus’s goals. This was followed by the presentation of the Overview and Rationale by Engr. Roque A. Costiniano, Director of the Institutional Planning and Development Office (IPDO).

Facilitated by the EVSU IPDO Team, the day’s itinerary included four critical sessions: a review of previous year targets, a diagnostic analysis on why targets were or were not met, an environmental scanning (S.W.O.T.) analysis, and a validation of strategic issues and risks.

The sessions provided a data-driven approach to identify gaps and opportunities in the campus’s operations. The day concluded with an Open Forum led by EnP Julius Ken P. Badeo, Planning Officer II, allowing participants to raise concerns and clarify strategic priorities before the closing of the first day. Prof. Georgina M. Orbeta served as the Master of Ceremony for the event.

The planning workshop will continue tomorrow, January 30, for Day 2, which will focus on “Goal Setting, KPI Reset, & Strategic Alignment”.

Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This Campus Assessment and Operational Planning initiative directly contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By rigorously reviewing operational targets and engaging in strategic risk validation, EVSU-OC demonstrates its commitment to building effective, accountable, and transparent institutional mechanisms. Furthermore, the focus on developing competent professionals supports the broader goal of inclusive and equitable quality education, ensuring the university remains a resilient pillar for sustainable development in the region.
