In response to the CHED announcement dated October 7, 2024, the Head of the Student Affairs and Services Office of EVSU- Ormoc Campus Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza, Jr., attended the invitation of the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. (PAPSAS) last November 27-29, 2024 at the Sabin Resort Hotel in Ormoc City, Leyte.

Those invited were student affairs practitioners, student services members, advisers, directors and representatives from universities, colleges and local universities and colleges (LUCs) in the region.

To meet its theme which is focused on the “Holistic Approaches to Student Success: Enhancing Wellbeing, Career Development and Inclusivity in Higher Education, “the President of PAPSAS Region 8 Professor Lowe S. Taña who is currently the Dean of the Student Affairs of Saint Paul School of Professional Studies invited experts to share their expertise for the success of the said seminar.

Professor Maria Charito Suyom, the AVP of the Student Affairs and Academic Services of Saint Paul School of Professional Studies shared on the topic “Fostering Inclusivity: Implementing Diversity and Equity in Student Services: Professor Marlon Maglipas, Director, Student Activities and Development Office of Far Eastern University Institute of Technology emphasized Assessment and Evaluation in Student Affairs Measuring Program Effectiveness, and Professor Ralph Jacinto Quiblat, the Director of the Office of Student Activities talked on Effective Communication in Student Affairs Building Relationship with Students.” Each session was actively followed by a workshop.

The highlight of the said seminar was the nomination of PAPSAS Officers for 2024-2027, Announcement of Top 10 nominees, Election of PAPSAS Executive Officers and Gawad PAPSAS Awarding Ceremony.

Eastern Visayas State University was attended by from left Professor Chona Fabre, Head of the Student Affairs Office of Tanauan Campus, Director of SASO of the Tacloban Campus Dr. Sonia T. Enrile, the Head of SASO of Ormoc Campus Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza Jr., Dr. Cherie Guy B. Giray, the Head of the Guidance Office of the Main Campus, and Professor Reina Reposar, the Scholarship Coordinator of Tanauan Campus.

The participants were given Certificates of Membership, Appearance and Participation. The schools were also given Certificates of Appreciation. A total of 119 participants attended the said activity.
