Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) began the second semester with a vibrant New Year’s Kick-Off Program at the EVSU-OC Grounds today, January 20, 2025. With the theme “Building a Safer Community Together: Partnerships for Campus Safety,” the event emphasized the importance of collaboration for a secure and inclusive campus environment.

The program was graced by Dr. Jeffry V. Ocay, Campus Director, who delivered a warm welcome and conveyed a special message from Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, University President, by Dr. Analyn Españo, Vice President of Research & Development and Extension Services. The message extended gratitude and inspiration to the university community as they embarked on another academic chapter.

Prominent speakers added depth and significance to the occasion. Hon. Nonito Anonat, Barangay Chairman of Brgy. Don Felipe Larrazabal, shared insights on community safety partnerships. Police Major Neil Fernando M. Cerdeña, MPU SWAT Chief, and PLTCOL Joel R. Camacho, Force Commander of the Office City Mobile Force Company, underscored essential security and safety measures to ensure EVSUnistas experience a protected campus environment. Their discussions were aimed at fostering a collective sense of responsibility for campus safety, inspiring vigilance, and reinforcing a culture of preparedness. Adding energy and enthusiasm to the program, the Alugyaw Dance Company delivered a lively intermission number that captivated the audience.

Dr. Clery Shellanei D. Nicolas, Head of Security and Public Safety, delivered the closing remarks, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees. She was emphasized the importance of a safe, valued, and protected campus, and advocated for anti-bullying initiatives and women empowerment. Her words reflected EVSU-OC’s commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity, respect, and mutual support. The event concluded with the Exit of Colors.
