EVSU-OC Shines on the Global Stage at UNISSULA’s OGCE 2025: Celebrating Literature, Culture, and a Call for Peace
ORMOC CITY, LEYTE—Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) successfully bolstered its commitment to internationalization after its student and faculty delegation actively participated in the 6th Online Global Cultural Exchange (OGCE) 2025, hosted by the English Literature Department and the Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) from October 27–31, 2025.
Strengthening Global Ties
The OGCE 2025, a virtual flagship initiative of UNISSULA, focused on the timely theme: “Authenticity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Preserving Human Voices in the World of Literature.” The program served as a vibrant platform for 140 participants—including 124 international delegates from 10 countries (Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam, Pakistan, China, France, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia)—to engage in cross-cultural dialogue, collaborative projects, and literary webinars.
EVSU-OC’s participation in this prestigious event was made possible through the support and coordination of Prof. Faustito A. Aure, MRD, EVSU- Main Director of Internationalization; Dr. Maricel A. Gomez, the Campus Director of EVSU-OC; and Ms. Alvijean Weti, MSHRM, EVSU-OC Internationalization Coordinator.
EVSU-OC Achieves Poetic Distinction
The EVSU-OC delegation included:
- Cris Carlo R. Buri (President, Association of Hospitality Management Students – AHMS)
- Jia Alyssa D. De Sape (AHMS Vice President)
- Edelyn Rose Joson (AHMS Head Committee on Communication and Archives)
- Ms. Lyra Calvez, MPM (BSHM Faculty)
A major highlight for EVSU-OC was the notable achievement of the group led by student Edelyn Rose Joson, which won the coveted Group Poem Competition. Their winning piece, titled “Resonance,” was co-created with group members Ms. Marjorie, Ms. Aisyah, Ms. Brylle, Mr. Kervin, Mr. Benedict, and their group buddy Ms. Aussitta.
“Resonance” delivered a heartfelt call for peace that transcends borders and languages, serving as a poignant reminder that even amid war and injustice, humanity’s shared hope and compassion can rise above division—uniting voices across the world in pursuit of lasting peace.
A Testament to Internationalization
The participation of EVSU-OC students and faculty in OGCE 2025 underscores the campus’s dedication to developing globally competitive individuals and enriching its academic environment through international exposure.
The event demonstrated how literature and the humanities remain vital pathways toward understanding, empathy, and peace in an increasingly technology-driven world. EVSU-OC is proud to have been part of this global collaboration, solidifying its place among the 43 partner universities worldwide that joined the exchange.
