EVSU-OC Conducts First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) successfully conducted the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 12, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with the participation of faculty members, staff, and students across the campus.

The activity was carried out as part of the nationwide initiative to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote safety awareness in case of earthquakes and other emergencies. During the drill, participants practiced the standard safety procedure “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” which is the recommended response during earthquake shaking.

Members of the EVSU-OC community actively followed the evacuation and safety protocols, ensuring an organized and smooth execution of the drill throughout the campus. The activity allowed participants to become more familiar with the proper actions to take during earthquake situations.

In addition, the Campus Red Cross Youth (CRCY) conducted a demonstration on how to properly respond and handle earthquake-related emergencies. The demonstration provided practical guidance on safety measures and emergency response, helping participants better understand how to react during real-life disaster situations.

The successful conduct of the earthquake drill highlights EVSU-OC’s commitment to promoting disaster preparedness, safety awareness, and resilience within the university community.

This activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which promotes disaster risk reduction and the development of resilient communities.
