EVSU Information Technology Faculty Obtains International MikroTik Certification
The Information Technology Department continues to strengthen its academic and technical capabilities as six faculty members, led by Engr. Joseph Jaymel S. Morpos, successfully earned internationally recognized MikroTik certifications on February 15, 2026, following the completion of an intensive five-day hands-on training and certification program.
The faculty members obtained the MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA), MikroTik Certified User Management Engineer (MTCUME), and MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE) certifications—global credentials that validate professional competencies in computer network configuration, administration, and routing technologies.
This accomplishment aligns with the continuous enhancement of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) curriculum in 2025, which aims to further develop student competencies in computer network engineering, administration, and maintenance. While CISCO networking technologies remain an integral component of the program, the inclusion of MikroTik certification training broadens opportunities for students to acquire additional industry-recognized qualifications under the guidance of MikroTik Certified Academy Trainer Engr. Roy L. Pamitalan of Queens Link Technologies, Inc.
The training initiative was realized through the support of the university administration in advancing faculty professional development, in cooperation with Queens Link Technologies, Inc., and with dedicated internet connectivity provided by Converge ICT Solutions Inc.
Following this milestone, the Information Technology Department is currently preparing its application to become an official MikroTik Certified Academy, reinforcing its commitment to delivering globally aligned instruction and producing competent IT professionals in the field of computer networking.
By transitioning into an official MikroTik Certified Academy, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) will be empowered to seamlessly integrate official MikroTik certification modules directly into its degree programs. This creates a significant advantage for BSIT students, as they can graduate holding both their academic diploma and globally recognized IT credentials, drastically boosting their immediate employability in the tech sector. Furthermore, the active collaboration with industry players like Queens Link Technologies and Converge ICT Solutions highlights a robust academe-industry linkage, ensuring that the university’s laboratory training remains highly relevant to the fast-paced demands of modern computer network engineering.
This milestone directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring inclusive, equitable, and industry-aligned quality education through continuous faculty upskilling.
