From a five-year-old kid putting tune to his innocent gibberish to being one of the rising talents in Leyte’s singing arena. Truly, it has already been a long way paved with passion, purpose, and dedication. Yet, the journey is just about to unfold even more magically for Eldrich- the Singing CEnsation of Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus.

Singing is not just a verb for this young man; it’s not just a hobby that he gets to do great at. It has become the art that feeds his heart. A language he learned fluently as it helped him traverse through his emotions. When asked what got him into singing, there wasn’t any particular occasion aside from remembering that he got to learn how to sing what he feels. The connection between music and him began, and since then, he has felt much more alive.

Eldrich is a current BSCE 3rd year student at EVSU-OC, and among EVSUnistas and others who once grew up in the same communities he had, he is surely a familiar face with a beaming smile and a shining voice wrapped around the wholesome person that he is, as his closest friends described him. The first step of his humble beginnings was simply being the family singer in family gatherings as a child who fell in love with music and then showcasing his talent at school intermissions, gigs, and shows. He eventually stumbled upon opportunities that were meant to find him.

Despite the doubts of his inexperience in joining huge singing contests, he brazened fears out of his way and did the Ormoc Pop where he managed to be a grand finalist last February 25, 2023. Ignited with thrill and packed with learnings as a first-timer, he knew there would be more for him on the stage of competitive singing. From then on, he manifested massive growth in the craft he finds so dear. It opened more doors that enabled him to showcase his talent. In fact, one of those doors is what he considered his greatest performance—when he was part of the opening act for the Ormoc Youth Jam last June 2023, starring Oh! Caraga band.

“𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 “𝘚𝘩𝘶𝘵 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦” 𝘣𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨; 𝘐 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘸𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘧 𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴”, he said.

Just like the said performance, his singing journey is not as flawless either. He faced challenges physically and technically. His versatility was tested along the way, but he rose up to the challenge and cherished all the learnings. “𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈; 𝒆𝒏𝒋𝒐𝒚 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕. 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒕𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚. 𝑻𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈! 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊!”, words of wisdom by Eldrich.

And this time around, he takes center stage as he is one of the 𝗧𝗼𝗽 10 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 of the 12th season of the biggest and brightest singing arena in the province, 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗱𝗼𝗹. Out of the hundreds of initial entries, he’s among the ones who stood out strong and will battle it once more on December 10, 2023, Sunday, during the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 8, where their spot in the Grand Finals will be decided.

Continue to shine just like your voice, and keep touching the hearts of many. The EVSU-OC community got your back, with all the support and pride!
