The Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Ormoc Women’s Volleyball Team delivered a stellar performance but fell short in their quest for the championship in the City Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament, bowing to Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) in a hard-fought final match with a final score of 25-22, 8-25, 25-20, 15-25, 17-19.
EVSU Ormoc started strong, displaying excellent defense and offense that made it difficult for PIT to score. A series of aces gave them the momentum to secure the opening set, 25-22.
However, PIT responded with a dominant performance, overwhelming EVSU Ormoc with powerful serves and relentless attacks. EVSU struggled to regain their footing, allowing PIT to take full control and equalize the match with an emphatic 8-25 win. Both teams engaged in a thrilling exchange of attacks and blocks, pushing each other to the limit. EVSU Ormoc showed resilience and composure, regaining the upper hand with a hard-fought 25-20 victory.
PIT refused to back down, seizing control in the latter part of the fourth set. Their aggressive plays and tactical execution left EVSU Ormoc trailing, leading to a 15-25 win that forced a deciding set. The championship came down to a nail-biting finale, with both teams battling fiercely for every point. In an intense extended frame, PIT held their ground and edged out EVSU Ormoc, 17-19, to claim the title.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, EVSU Ormoc showcased remarkable skill and determination, proving they are a formidable force in collegiate volleyball.
