In the battle that requires endurance, strength and agility, the Alumni Basketball Team of Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus, the Elite, faced a devastating setback against Phenom during the Quarterfinals of Alumni Basketball Tournament 2024 at EVSU Inner Court on August 3, 2024.

In spite of the unique gameplay and tactics of the opposing team, the Elite showed prowess and extreme determination in their fast break and backdoor play which result a first tie score during the first quarter of the game.

As the game began to transcend, the court started to heat up as each player exhibit their powerful and impactful shots inside the court. However, due to numerous numbers of air balls and fouls of the Elite during the second quarter of the game this made them more harder to the caught up the opponent’s leading score.

The 42-54 score during second quarter did not make the Elite lose hope in winning the game. Instead, during the third and fourth quarter of the game, they keep on securing highly secured shots which lead them to surpass the 65-72 score, during the third quarter. As the fourth quarter game is about to end, and the Elite is about to achieve a significant triumph, the opposing team did not make it happened when they threw a numerous consecutive 3-point shots during the last quarter that made them clinched the game with a 72-95 final leading score.

Although Elite did not win the game, the smiles they shared with the opposing team afterward represented a victory in itself, embodying the true essence of sportsmanship.
