June 6, 2024- The newly appointed Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers of Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC), had taken their oath of responsibility and pledge of commitment during the Oath Taking Ceremony at EVSU-OC’s Function Hall.

The officers were welcomed by Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza, Jr.- Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) Head with a reminder of the responsibilities that students leaders must uphold. He also commended the officers for taking up such challenging roles.

Dr.Jeffry V. Ocay- EVSU-OC Director, led the oath recital. Also, in his speech, he emphasized that student leaders must live up to their roles and be thinking individuals.

“Be creative, be innovative, and be proactive. Observe what’s going on around and think what you can do about it”, Sir Ocay stated. He shared that his leadership skills and management knowledge were heavily molded and influenced by his learnings and experiences as a student leader as a way to encourage the officers to see leading as one way to develop holistically.

As things were about to transition, the now former SSG President, Mr. Nikolai C. Villegas, delivered his message for the new officers as he exits from the role. He highlighted that service is the core of their function and he reminded the new officers to stay grounded and emulate kindness as they lead. “Serving the students has always been the top priority”, he added.

Stepping into the realm of great responsibility, Mr. Quiruben B..DejaΓ±o, the newly appointed SSG President, shared a speech as he assumes the role. He recognized the weight of his duties and ready to fill the shoes. He also said that an SSG position is not about the position or title, but it’s about the service and impact one can make.

To conclude the event, Mrs. Lyra C. Rodriguez, SSG Adviser congratulated the new set of officers in her closing remarks. She stressed that being an SSG officer is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. “Embrace this opportunity to make a difference”, Ma’am Lyra said.

The newly elected officers will start their term today and will serve the EVSUnistas for the next Academic Year.
