The Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three barangays in Ormoc City, namely, Brgy. Lake Danao, Brgy. Cabaon-an, and Brgy. Don Felipe Larrazabal, as well as the Department of Education-Ormoc City Division, on July 29, 2024, at the Sabin Resort Hotel, Ormoc City.
The MOU aims to formalize the collaboration between these five partners in various areas of mutual interest, including community development, research, and public service. It also outlines the terms and conditions under which they will cooperate.
The Stakeholders’ Consultancy with MOU meeting began with a prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, the ASEAN Hymn, and the EVSU Hymn. Prof. Kristine Lovele E. Navarrete then introduced the guests from each barangay attending the event.
Afterwards, Dr. Jeffry V. Ocay delivered the welcome remarks, acknowledging the guests, discussing the project proposal, and thanking the officials from Lake Danao for their material donations to the school. Subsequently, Prof. Navarrete provided an overview and rationale for the MOU and proceeded to the reading of the Memorandum of Understanding. The contract signing with each barangay followed, starting with Brgy. Cabaon-an, then Brgy. Don Felipe Larrazabal, the Department of Education, and finally Brgy. Lake Danao.
Remarks were given by each barangay captain, Hon. Bartolome O. Mistula and Hon. Roel J. Laurente, as well as a representative from the Department of Education and EVSU University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz.
Dr. de Paz expressed his gratitude for the partnership, saying, “From the bottom of my heart, and also on behalf of Eastern Visayas State University, I welcome you all to our university as our partners.”
The program formally closed by Dr. Beatrice D. Mabitad, head of the Teacher Education Department, who stated, “It is through our combined efforts that we will achieve meaningful results.”
