As part of Eastern Visayas State University- Ormoc Campus’ movement towards being a safer learning environment, the institution employed additional security personnel last February 1, 2024 both in EVSU-OC and in its extension campus, Luna Campus.
With the growing population of EVSU- OC, the installation of more security forces was aimed to strengthen the school’s capacity to protect and safeguard its learners, workers, and properties. Starting last February 1,2024, two security guards were posted every shift at the campus gate to strictly observe and impose the campus’ safety rules and regulations such as closely implementing students and staffs’ proper dress code, regulating the in and out of students and staff through permits, and monitoring visitors to prevent entry of unsolicited outsiders.
As the campus is now conducting a full face-to- face classes, the additional security was also directed to ensure the safety of students during night classes. The guards, as per EVSU-OC Director, Dr. Jeffrey V. Ocay, will be tasked to take turns at night as one will do the roving in the different areas of the campus to check up on students, classrooms, facilities, and office, while keeping the gates watched over by the other.
These new additions to the security team symbolize continuous efforts to enhance campus safety, creating an environment where every student, instructor, faculty and staff member can focus on their academic journey without compromise.
“It feels reassuring for us students. This improvement, where safety prevails, our education is note only enlightening but also safeguarded”, Alexander Morfe, a 2nd year Civil Engineering student, said.
“Two is always better than one, we are thankful of this initiative by the campus”, Sarah Grace Sombilon, a 3rd year Elementary Education Student shared.
