To highlight the importance of gender inclusivity and breaking gender stereotypes, the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) 2nd-year students of Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) hosted a coffee talk show anchored on the topic, Gender Inclusivity and Gender and Development (GAD) on April 22, 2023, at the EVSU-OC Function Hall.

The event formally commenced with the opening remarks of Ms. Jereline Gindoy, the event manager, in which she emphasized the aim of the said activity. Subsequently, Mr. Bonard B. Torres, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) instructor, warmly welcomed everyone who was present at the event.

Said talk show featured three guest speakers: Atty. Kimberly Cadayona, Mr. Constantino L. Cañedo, and Ms. Josefa R. Pizon, where they discussed and shared their knowledge and expertise on gender and development—how the implementation of the GAD program ensures that all genders feel included, the importance of inclusivity of all voices and needs, and how gender stereotyping can be addressed in education.

After the thorough discussion of their insights and knowledge, follow-up questions from the participants were also observed, giving them more information on this matter.

The event ended with the closing remarks of Prof. Rosita D. Lariosa, GAD Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of conducting more programs like this and extended her appreciation to everyone present. It was then followed with the giving of certificates to the esteemed guest speakers. This event isn’t just a simple moment but is marked as an important matter in shaping and molding the minds of our students in knowing various laws and policies that protect the rights of each individual’s gender preferences.
