The creative and innovative BSHM 2A students of Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) sparked their Kapehan dynamic Talk Show delves into “Hospitality and Tourism”, with the theme “Let’s Talk over Coffee: Harnessing Creativity in Hospitality and Tourism Industry”, convened at the EVSU-OC Function Hall on April 7, 2025.
The event was conducted as part of their course—Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE)—under the advisory of Prof. Bonard Torres. The said gathering aimed about how creativity came up with innovative results in the industry by engaging in salient conversation not merely through coffee, but also learning from one another by gaining valuable insights.
The event activated with the welcome remarks of Ms. Shelou M. Andoy, BSHM 2A Student. It was then followed by an opening remark by Mr. Alan Reynaldo E. Mabitad, Head of Industrial Technology. He highlighted his message with, “Today’s event is not just sipping a cup of coffee, but about engaging in insightful conversation, exchanging ideas, and learning from one another. As Hospitality Management students, we understand the value of human connection”. A relaxed talk show focusing on connecting people with each other—ask questions and garner pivotal ideas for the hospitality industry, specifically the tourism industry. Highlighting the essence of tourism within and outside the institution. The event also featured guest speakers Mr. Jesus Manuel A. Morca II and Ms. Reah P. Maguikay, Ormoc Tour Guides, who shared their expertise on the essence of the tourism industry.
The ceremony concluded with an awarding of certificates, leaving the students, faculty, and guests with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration, equipped with fresh perspectives and ideas to drive innovation and excellence in the hospitality and tourism industry, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the local community and beyond.
