Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) hosted the 9th Sidlakan Mass Media Awards yesterday, November 29, 2024. This prestigious event recognized outstanding achievements in the mass media industry, honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field.

Dr. Jeffry V. Ocay, Campus Director, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of excellence and dedication in the media industry.

The ceremony, attended by prominent figures in the media and academia, acknowledged exceptional talents in various categories. Radyo Natin Ormoc 107.1 was named Best Local Radio Station, while Rapido Balita took home the award for Best Local Radio Program. John Kevin Pilapil was hailed as both Best Local Radio Anchor and Most Outstanding Social Media Anchor. Other awardees included Elite (Best Local Photography), Miss Catering (Best Local Social Media Influencer), Ormoc News and Updates (Best Local Social Media News Platform), Eastern Visayas Mail-EV Mail News (Best Local News Prints), and BSDK DOSE (Best Annual Local Talent Search).

The special recognition awards—Exceptional Ormoc EVSUnistas Awardee—were conferred upon Alugyaw Dance Company, Dance Sports EVSU Ormoc Team, Astrophile Family and our Student Publication, Observer— for their remarkable contributions. The event also featured captivating performances by Alugyaw Dance Company, Astrophile, Kriesha Jane Pepito, Heart Restituto, Eldrich Manuel Sevilla and Dance Sport Team Ormoc City.

The event concluded with a closing remarks from Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza Jr., Head of the Students Affairs and Services Office (SASO), where he encouraged the awardees to continue striving for greatness.

The 9th Sidlakan Mass Media Awards serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to promoting excellence and recognizing outstanding achievements in the field of mass media.
