About Sports Development
The EVSU-OCC Sports Development Office, under the Office of the Campus Director of Ormoc Campus and the Director of the Sports Development of the university is the salient arm of the university in the implementation of relevant sports programs for students, student-athletes, coaches and faculty and staff. This office is mandated to offer programs that involves sports and physical activities that encourages holistic development among students, student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff.
The office has a vision to the whole EVSU-Ormoc community for total human development through relevant impactful participation in sports and in other recreational activities. Moreover, the office is guided with a mission to offer experiences that enrich the lives of the student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff through excellence in facilities, fitness, sport, play and recreation. The office is committed to foster servant leadership, sportsmanship, camaraderie, encourage lifelong healthy lifestyles, and support the formation of sports clubs that is actively participating in and off of the campus.
The conduct of yearly Intramural Games in the university leads to the discovery of new pool of talents and potential athletes that will play and represent the campus in different sports competitions. Also, this activity engages the students to participate and discover their talents and skills by providing different sports events that suits their capacity and skills.
The presence and formation of varsity teams in the campus are a manifestation of the continuing support of the university in terms of sports engagement in different competitions it maybe in-campus or off-campus. Also, these groups are the offshoot of series of try-outs and trainings, thus strengthening the pool of talents in the next level of competitions.
The campus participation in local, national and international sports competitions is indeed a lifestyle. Since 2015, several competitions had been won by our victorious student-athletes in the field of Weightlifting, Athletics, Football, Baseball and Softball and DanceSport. The campus is an active participant in the Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) Games, a yearly regional sporting event of state colleges and universities within the region, and as well as to the National SCUAA Games, the national sporting event of all SUCs in the country. The campus is as well active to the events conducted by the Local Government Unit of Ormoc City, and on the nearby cities, towns and provinces. Last notable win of our student-athletes was at the 11 th Philippine International DanceSport Summer Ball Open conducted June 2023 where our student- athletes bagged major awards, as well on the National SCUAA Games 2023 held at Tarlac Agricultural University, Tarlac province where the Women’s Basketball Team participated and represented the region in the national arena.
The annual Faculty and Staff Sports Fest is also an engagement for the faculty and staff to unleash their physical capacity. This activity being held every founding anniversary of the campus in the month of November fulfills the participation of the faculty and staff in the field of physical activity.
