EVSU 18th CHARTER ANNIVERSARY

As part of the month-long celebration of Eastern Visayas State University’s 18th Charter Anniversary, the Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus (EVSU- OC) hosted a program to commemorate the beginnings, celebrate the present, and envision the future of EVSU centering on this year’s theme, ONE EVSU: Forward Together, on August 12, 2022 at EVSU- OC covered court.

Ms. Charlene Gail T. Lacaba and Mr. Romulo Joseph M. Jereza IV were the presenters of the program. A venue full of colors and vibrance was also filled with the brilliant presence of people behind EVSU’s image of success, namely Dr. Dennis C. de Paz- University President with his beloved wife Dr. Jacqueline de Paz, Dr., Dr. Lydia M. Morante- Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Analyn Españo- VP for Research and Development and Extension Services, Dr. Danilo Pulma- VP for Internationalization and External Affairs, Dr. Benedicto T. Milatante, Jr. – VP for Administration and Finance, Dr. Eduardo Bagas- Campus Director of EVSU Burauen, Dr. Ronald Madera- Campus Director of EVSU Carigara, Dr. Annabelle Pilapil- Campus Director of EVSU Tanauan, Dr. Grace Camasin, Campus Director of EVSU Dulag, and Dr. Gerry B. de Cadiz- the Campus Director of the host campus, EVSU-OC. Also present were Dr. Diosdado Lesiguez- Dean of College of Engineering, Dr. Sheldon Ives Agaton- Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Rose Anna Refuerzo- Dean of College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hilaria Bustamante- Dean of College of Technology, Dr. Hervy Catilogo- Dean of College of Architecture and Allied Discipline, Dr. Herminigildo S. Badion- Dean of College of Education, Dr. Gabinos Petilos- Dean of Graduate, Mr. Rex B. Palompon- Adviser of The Industrial Wheel. Some of the faculty and staff from different EVSU campuses and students attended the event as well.

Dr. Gerry B. de Cadiz, the campus director of EVSU-OC kicked off the program with his welcome address. In his speech Dr. de Cadiz stated that “This celebration is a moment for all of us [EVSUNISTAs] to be together”. Dr. Dennis C. De Paz also delivered a heartwarming message as well, highlighting the importance of a unified EVSU. He mentioned the growth and some of the achievements EVSU had attained for the recent years and the plan to continually produce better results and achieve greater heights as ONE EVSU. “We cannot move forward together if we are not united”, Dr. de Paz said.

While having lunch, everyone was serenaded by EVSU- OC students band through acoustic music, lifting the ambiance of the venue. The Alugyaw Dance Company also showed off their mastered skills as they offered beautiful dance pieces choreographed to Original Pilipino Songs (OPM) and traditional music, as well as latin dances.

The event proceeded with playing the “Laro ng Lahi” organized by the BPEd of EVSU-OC and Mr. Franz Martin Callano, participated enthusiastically by some of the campus directors, faculty and staff, and students from different EVSU campuses.

The highlight of the event was the EVSU Got Talent where everyone had a chance to share their talents. Various talents were unleashed such as singing, dancing, and literary. Despite the EVSU Got Talent being a contest, all of the attendees, from the University President, campus directors, instructors, faculty, and students came together and displayed the different fortes of EVSUNISTAS. At the end, three of the entries were awarded as the most outstanding ones. The champion was the University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz for his solo singing number, the 1st runner up was Dr. Grace Camasin for her monologue, and 2nd runner- up was Ms. Glenda I. Leonor EVSU- OC student for her spoken poetry.

It was indeed a celebration of EVSU’s oneness, a day that truly magnified the essence of this year’s theme, ONE EVSU: FORWARD TOGETHER.
