EVSU–Ormoc Produces New Mechanical Engineer in February 2026 Board Exam

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has officially released the results of the February 2026 Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination (MELE), bringing pride to Eastern Visayas State University – Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) after one of its examinees successfully earned the title of Registered Mechanical Engineer.

Out of three takers from EVSU-OC—who were all re-takers—one passed the examination, resulting in a campus passing rate of 33.33 percent. Despite the small number of examinees, the success reflects perseverance and determination among graduates striving to achieve professional licensure.

On the national level, PRC reported that 3,264 out of 6,294 examinees passed the MELE, translating to a nationwide passing rate of 51.86 percent. The licensure examination was administered on February 11–13, 2026 in testing centers nationwide, with results released just a few working days after the examination.

The Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination is one of the country’s major professional board exams, assessing competencies in areas such as power plant engineering, industrial engineering, machine design, and mechanical systems. Passing the exam signifies that an individual meets the national standards required to practice mechanical engineering in the Philippines.

The newly licensed engineer from EVSU-Ormoc now joins the ranks of professionals expected to contribute to industries such as manufacturing, energy, transportation, construction, and infrastructure development—sectors vital to national growth and technological advancement.

The achievement also highlights the resilience of repeat examinees who continue to pursue their professional goals despite previous setbacks. For EVSU-OC, this milestone serves as both a celebration and motivation to further strengthen its engineering programs and support future board takers.

This achievement aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, as producing licensed engineers demonstrates the role of higher education in developing skilled professionals who contribute to sustainable national development.
