BPED Pride: Shyra Mae Aranzado Bags Silver in 33rd SEA Games Modern Pentathlon
CHONBURI, THAILAND — Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) celebrates another historic milestone as one of its own, Shyra Mae Aranzado, secured a Silver Medal in the Modern Pentathlon Triathle event during the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2025.
Aranzado, a dedicated Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) student at EVSU, showcased remarkable endurance and grit, finishing the grueling race with a time of 18:29.30. Her performance in the Triathle—a multi-discipline event involving swimming, laser pistol shooting, and running—marks her as one of the elite athletes in the Southeast Asian region.
Applying Excellence in Physical Education
For the EVSU community, Shyra Mae’s victory is particularly significant. As a BPED major, she embodies the very principles of sports science and physical discipline taught within her program. Her success on the international stage serves as a powerful “living laboratory” for her fellow students and future educators in the field of physical education.
The “Arangkada si Aranzado” spirit was on full display as she navigated the challenging course in Thailand, proving that EVSU students can compete and excel against the best athletes in the ASEAN zone.
A Symbol of ‘Tibay at Tatag’
Representing the Philippines under the banner of “Tibay at Tatag,” Aranzado’s achievement is a testament to the rigorous training and unwavering spirit of Filipino student-athletes. Despite the pressure of international competition and the demands of her academic studies, she has brought immense honor to the university and the nation.
Her silver medal finish contributes to the Philippines’ strong showing in the Modern Pentathlon, solidifying the country’s position as a powerhouse in the sport.
As Shyra Mae prepares to return home, she carries with her not just a medal, but the pride of the entire EVSU family, who continues to cheer for her continued success in both her athletic and academic journeys.
