Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) transformed into a center of thoughts and expression as students from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) participated in Media, Culture, and Arts—a podcast-style event blending conversation, culture, and creativity on April 8, 2025 at the EVSU-OC Function Hall.
With opening remarks delivered by Alan Reynaldo E. Mabitad, Head of the Industrial Technology Department, the event invited students to involve themselves in a pensive dialogue about the empirical role of creative industries in shaping our society.
Hosted by BSHM-2B student Glenn Maturan, the program featured three guest speakers: Jesus Benjamin Pore, a visual artist; John Kevin Pilapil, a journalist and radio broadcaster; and Hareol Tero, a teacher and visual artist, who each gave their insights on the intersection of their respective fields. The event reached its more interactive section during the talk show segment, with Maturan again taking the center stage.
The program ended with Mr. Mabitad’s closing remarks. Everyone present at the event was reminded that media, culture, and the arts are not reserved for the elites or the established. They are living, breathing aspects of everyday life—accessible to anyone who dares to try, create, and speak up.
