To welcome the freshman students and provide them with necessary information, incoming National Service Training Program (NSTP) students from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Ormoc Campus assembled at the EVSU-OC Covered Court, along with the City College of Ormoc (CCO) freshmen, to attend this year’s NSTP Orientation. CCO students joined the orientation due to the absence of an NSTP program at their institution on August 31, 2024.

The orientation was designed to cover the two NSTP components offered by EVSU. Dr. Guillermo Sodomia began the session with welcoming remarks and provide an overview of CWTS. Following this, Dr. Arnie Cadiente, a faculty member of the Civil Welfare Training Service (CWTS), discussed the importance of civic engagement in the community. In his address, he highlighted the role of the NSTP in promoting social responsibility among students and encouraged them to address any concerns directly with instructors rather than posting complaints on social media.

Additionally, PO3 Jerome A. Arquillano led a special segment to discuss the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). He emphasized the critical role of the program in shaping future leaders. “ROTC is not just about military training; it’s about developing skills, self-discipline, and promoting patriotism,” he explained.

Through this initiative, students were given equal opportunities to select their preferred NSTP component and were provided with a solid foundation of information to help them make decisions that aligned with their interests.
