Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OC) proudly congratulates Campus Director Dr. Jeffry V. Ocay and the Head of the Procurement Office, Mrs. Dixie Jean V. Caresosa, LPT, MPRM, for their outstanding achievement in passing the Public Procurement Specialist Certification Course Level I.
The said course, organized by the Central Luzon State University in collaboration with the Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office, was a 64-hour session designed to produce certified procurement specialists and practitioners imbued with the required body knowledge, skill set, and right attitude and behavior for public procurement.
The sessions were held on April 16–19 and 23–26, 2024, via the Zoom platform. Following the training, Dr. Ocay and Mrs. Caresosa successfully passed the PPSCC Comprehensive Examination, which took place on May 3, 2024.
In an interview, Mrs. Caresosa shared her motivations for undertaking the course. “As the head of the procurement office, dapat well-versed ko sa tanan about procurement. Dapat, I am knowledgeable in everything. Dapat kamao gud ko para maka function ko. Kay lisod pud kung naa ta sa posisyon nya wala ta kahibaw, mag nga-nga ta, di ta kasabot. Dapat kamao gud ta sa balaod, kamao ta sa procedure, kamao ta sa process ug sa tanan about procurement”, she explained. Furthermore, she also highlighted the challenges she faced, such as balancing work and study, managing her health, and dealing with the fatigue that came with the rigorous schedule. She attributed her success to effective time management and multitasking skills and expressed her gratitude to EVSU for the opportunity. Mrs. Caresosa then encouraged others in the procurement field to take similar courses to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge.
Their accomplishment not only reflects their commitment to professional growth but also underscores the competence of the university. The newly acquired skills of these individuals will enhance EVSU-OC’s administrative processes and ensure efficient and transparent procurement practices. The EVSU-OC community celebrates this remarkable achievement.
Looking ahead, Dr. Ocay and Mrs. Caresosa are set to continue with the Level II course from August 13–16, 19–20, 22–23, and 27–30, 2024, also via the Zoom platform.
