Ormoc City once again celebrated the highly anticipated PiΓ±a Festival on June 23, 2024. This annual event showcases the Ormocanons’ way of offering gratitude for the abundance of pineapple harvests and giving thanks to our patron saints, San Pablo and San Pedro, for their continued blessings.
This year’s PiΓ±a Festival featured seven contingents, including three barangays and four schools. Among them was our beloved alma mater, Eastern Visayas State University- Ormoc Campus, represented by Pundok Sidlakan.
During the grand and luminous night of celebration, Pundok Sidlakan did not come home empty-handed, garnering a special award for Best in Costume. They also secured the Second Place of PiΓ±a Festival 2024 Grand Showdown. Meanwhile, STI College of Ormoc, represented by Pundok Nagkahiusang Ormocanon, claimed their fifth triumph as the champion of the Grand Showdown. Ms. Amehan Gonzales from Western Leyte College, Pundok Kasadpan, was crowned PiΓ±a Festival Queen 2024 and won several minor awards, including Best Festival Queen Gown, Best Solo Performance, and Ms. PiΓ±a Festival Photogenic.
The event concluded with a fireworks display. Congratulations to all contingents, and congratulations EVSUnista!
