As the Supreme Student Government (SSG) Election 2024 is set to happen today, the SSG gathered the aspiring student leaders in their Miting de Avance at the Administration Building, Room 3, yesterday, May 16, 2024, to give the student body insights about this year’s candidates advocacies.
The event was attended by Dr. Joergen T. Arradaza Jr., the head of the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO), as well as Ms. Lyra Rodriguez, the SSG adviser. Also, eager EVSUnistas witnessed the program.
Dr. Arradaza delivered notable words in his opening remarks, “Choosing a leader is not an easy task”, he said. He also added that during the election day classes will not be suspended and students can cast their vote during their free time. Afterwards, he elaborated the SSG Election guidelines wherein the qualified students who can vote are those officially enrolled at EVSU-OC. During the election only the selected committee will supervise and neither any student nor the teacher can access the voting process.
The presentation of the candidates followed, the event hosts only one party which is the Leaders’ Empowerment Advocacy for Development (LEAD). The candidates, starting from the president down to each program representatives introduced themselves and their platforms to the audiences. Mostly, their advocacies and platforms were about students welfare, mental health, facility improvement, environmental projects, and inclusivity and belongingness of the members of the LGBTQ.
Moreover, they were put in hot seat as they were asked with some questions and concerns by the students. It was wrapped up through the closing remarks of Mr. Quiruben DejaΓ±o, the running SSG president.
